Teaching aims:
1.     To understand conversation about holiday journeys.
2.     To process main information of holiday experience.
3.     To talk about holiday journeys.
Teaching Importance and Difficulties
1.     To master the key vocabulary: Pacific, so, guess, excited, wow, arrive, relax, world-famous, French , sell , top, till, light, on, wonderful, palace.
2.     To understand Past simple wh-questions.
3.     To master past simple irregular verbs
Teaching Aids: Multi-media set
Teaching procedures:
Step1: Warm up----Free talk
T: Good morning, everyone. What’s the weather like today?
 What was the weather like on May Day? Do you remember?
S1: It was sunny and hot.
T: What did you do during the May Day holiday?
 Who was with you?
 How did you get there?
 How long did it take to get there?
 How long did you spend on it?
(The teacher let the students talk about their holiday journeys. The teacher asks students several past simple wh-questions when they are talking. And also teaches the past simple irregular verbs during the free talk.)
T: I stayed at home during the whole holidays. What do you think of my holiday?
S2: It was boring.
T: I agree. So I decide not to stay at home next holiday. I want to fly to California.
Step2: Presentation
T: Where is California?
S1: It’s in America.
T: Yes. You’re good at geography. Here’s a map of America. Can you find California on the map? Where is it?
Ss: It’s on the west coast of the USA.
T: What’s on the left of it?
S2: It’s a sea.
T: Actually it’s an ocean. What is the name of ocean?
S3: Pacific Ocean.
T: Here’s a simple map of California. What kinds of places can you see in California?
Ss: Hollywood, LA, Santa Monica and Disneyland.
Teacher introduces these places one by one.
Step 3 Listen and number the places as you hear. ( Activity 1)
T: These pictures are from my friend. She went there last year. And she wants to tell us about her journey. Please open your book and number the places as you hear.
Step 4 Watch and answer
T: Do you remember this little boy? He is going to the USA and Betty is telling him something about her last journey in California. Now let’s watch the video and pay attention to the names of the places.
Step 5 Read and answer
T: Do you want to know more about her journey? OK. You can open your book and read the conversation carefully and answer the questions. Please
pay attention to the answers to wh questions.
Step 6 Summary
T: Can you make a summary about Betty’s journey without reading books? Don’t be afraid. I’ll give you some help.
T: This is about Betty’s last journey in California. If you want to know something about others’ journeys, what kind of questions can we ask?
Ss: What did you do?
   Who was with you?
   How did you get there?
   How long did you get there?
   How long did it take to get there?
   How was your journey?
Step7 Pairwork
T: Now it’s your turn to make a dialogue with your partner. Work in pairs and talk about your last journeys.
Step 8. Homework
1. Read the conversation three times.
2. Tomorrow we’ll have a interview about my last journey in Korea. You can think questions as much as possible.

教学反思:
    本堂课已旅游为话题,贴近学生生活。以天气做导入,直接自然。本课以journey以主线,环环相扣,呈现知识要点。课堂上教师扎实落实基础,衔接自然。但是教师需要放手,给孩子足够的时间及空间。让本课的重点从孩子口中说出。教师应成为课堂知识的指导者而不是传授者。这也是今后课堂教学中我的努力方向。
